Acupuncture for animals is becoming much more common in the United States. In some Eastern countries it has been practiced for thousands of years! Animals also have chi flowing through them and thus also have meridians with acupuncture points. Acupuncture complements traditional western veterinary medicine very well, and in some cases may be an option to surgery. Very basically, acupuncture can successfully treat most chronic, ongoing disorders. Please see each separate animal web page for more information on treatable disorders for your beloved dog, cat, or horse.

Acupuncture works very well in conjunction with traditional western medicine. It is very important for your animal to have continued veterinary care as acupuncture is not a substitute. Acu Animal works with your veterinarian to give the best and most complete care possible to your beloved companion. Maryland State Law requires that an animal be seen by a vet within 14 days of his/her first acupuncture treatment. This is to ensure there are no additional western medical conditions that need to be addressed. Please have a copy of your receipt available for the first acupuncture treatment. Acu Animal then continues communication with your vet regarding your pet's progress. Veterinary referrals are welcome!
